[The day is winding down and Lynne is somewhere in the pits of paperwork hell, which is the absolute worst place to be. She's sort of slumped on her desk, face propped up in her hand, when someone comes a-ehi-ing. Bloodstained recorders are the most exciting thing that have happened to her in hours, so Lynne hops to her feet.]
Give it here! Is that the... [She pauses, glancing down at her pile o' papers, and groans.] ...What is it with musical instruments this week? Is that one a murder weapon or just a crime scene piece?
[Her eyes light up as she imagines someone hauling a bloody grand piano into an evidence room.]
But, um, I think it was just at the crime scene... I was scrubbing toilets during that trial, unfortunately. I think the case was something about a musical genius murdering his student since he had started to surpass him? Honestly, it's kinda? Yikes.
Another one! [She sounds deeply exasperated.] It—might have been a clarinet? Murdered with a clarinet. But this one... [She shuffles through her papers again, and sets a few aside.] Right, right, I know this one. Crazy stuff, right? Those music types are so dramatic, too. Doing that right in the concert hall was just unnecessary.
[She slaps another sheet of paper down on the desk and stands up, holding her hand up in the air.] All right, give it here! [does she expect to catch it or......]
I don't even know why I act surprised anymore. [She says with a bit of a laugh.] This is pretty normal when you compare it to some of my past cases. At least it's over with, I guess.
[As she sees Lyn ready to catch, Athena nods cheerfully and actually stands back a little. She takes a pitching stance and winds up...]
Hey batter, batter... catch!
[Never mind the fact it's the catcher who says that, not the pitcher. And maybe this baseball metaphor would've worked better if Lyn was the catcher?]
SAME HAT!!!
