[Clio is what we're gonna call interesting, if we mean to be accurate but reasonably polite.

She spends most of her time lounging about the tea house, where she doesn't technically work even though the demons in charge pay her a salary—they like her quite well, it seems, even though she doesn't really do anything for them and won't be beholden to their schedule or whims, hence a tendency to wander about at her leisure.

If asked, the demons in charge will tell patrons (outside of Clio's earshot) that they planted catnip in their garden and came back to find her rolling around in it. It's the lion in her—and apparently there's enough of it to keep whatever the catnip might have done to the goat or snake in her.

Those familiar with the ancient myths will recognize her as a chimera in her three parts, plus a more humanoid shape to it all: a woman with lion's ears, goat's horns, snake's scales in her skin, and all three tails. Her forked tongue makes sss noises when it flicks past her lips. Her pupils sit sideways.

Still, she's human enough to carry a conversation with, though she's got that cat-like aloofness to her. Always, she carries a deck of cards with her. Often, it sits on the table in front of her while she's incorrectly splayed out in a chair. Without much prompting, she's happy to ask:
]

Are you interesssted in having your fortune told?

ic fortunetelling! i'm learning the citadel deck in anticipation for drachenfest, so here's my drachenfest character doing those fortunes. isekai your character or imagine we're all in the same jamjar or that they walked into an interdimensional tea house i don't CARE. clio can also be pretty easily isekai'd anywhere else, just give her somewhere to lounge around in.

feel free to start with your character's initial approach, pick up from where i left off, start somewhere different, put us in the middle of asking the question, have your character ask about the process first, have them pry about clio's existence, it's whatever, have fun with it. bracket and prose styles both acceptable.

basic three card spreads are happening generally. have a specific question in mind. yes-or-no questions are bad, but if your character asks one, clio will give them shit and i'll assume ooc you know what you're doing.

Saving Sunbridge

hi this is a SUPER quick and dirty test drive for an idea i’m still fleshing out—please feel free to invite your friends if they’re cool, but i’m not making a big public thing of it until i have more information done lmao.

the basic premise: your character has been isekai’d into Sunbridge Town, a small village in the vein of harvest moon/stardew valley/story of seasons, by the sunsprites, our jumino/harvest sprite/etc. equivalents. a Threat looms over the town—expect the details to either get much more specific or to change entirely, but the magic that has existed in it all this time has been draining over time as the townsfolk find themselves burdened and struggling with the encroachment of Big Capitalism. the draining magic has resulted in poorer harvests and other parts of the town faltering, resulting in a vicious cycle. the harvest goddess figure has even grown sick! in a last ditch effort, the sunsprites have gathered up the magic they have and summoned strangers from other worlds to assist. they’re on a time limit, though they have at least a season or two, and if they manage to save the town, heal the harvest goddess, and return the magic to its full power, the sunsprites will be able to send everyone home.

setting notes

  • for now, picture the sunsprites as particularly sparkly juminos. they are represented by a single spirit who takes a more humanoid form, for now just referred to as the harvest goddess, who was able to explain the situation to the new arrivals. her presence is sporadic.
  • with few exceptions, the townsfolk were largely unaware of the sunsprites and the magic in their town before the arrival of the strangers. they sure are aware of it now! they’re learning about this magic just as much as y’all, and are reacting in various ways to everyone’s presence—from curiosity, to eager helpfulness, to fear.
  • the sunsprites have made space for the new arrivals to sleep and settle in a fairly recently abandoned farmstead. there’s plenty of room, but not necessarily much privacy; a lot of people will be group bunking in the barn or having a big sleepover in the house’s living room sort of deal, if they haven’t chosen to pitch a tent and camp outside.
  • technology level is typical of stardew valley et al; low, but not nonexistent. we don’t have internet.

places your character can be

  • the abandoned farmstead where characters will be staying
  • the forests behind the farmlands. they’re just normal woods, but they go deep enough and get thick enough that there’s little point going in there unless you seek the sunsprites, whose emergence point is the lake in the grove in which the harvest goddess stays when she takes on her humanoid form
  • the ruins at the town’s edge. it’s hard to tell what they used to be—remnants of a previous town, perhaps? there’s only one structure intact enough to really go inside of, and there’s stairs that lead to a basement with yet another set of stairs going down, and no telling how deep it goes…
  • the beach! it’s a beach. it has fun beach things. you can go fishing here
  • the town itself, which contains all your basic town amenities

character notes

please note you can play whoever you want on this test drive but i want to set expectations about who can and can’t be played in the actual game on the off chance that it happens so that you know what you’re getting into.

  • canon characters and ocs are all good. ocs can be from existing canons as long as they’re not weird about relationships with canon characters
  • characters i am probably not going to allow in the game if it comes to fruition: AUs (including CRAUs), anyone based on a real person, customizable protags who have inconsistent relationships with canon characters (ex. WoLs, inquisitors, shepherds)
  • characters who aren’t going to engage with the setting right off the bat are going to be a bad fit—”my grump needs a couple weeks to make friends first” isn’t going to work unless you can append something like “but they’ll immediately be worried about the livestock and start working with them”
  • characters are probably going to be allowed to have powers that aren't game-breaking. they can also have their pokémon or whatever. if you want to nerf your character's powers, you can.
  • nonhuman characters are not humanized. they also aren't downsized unless it would be game-breaking, or if you want them to be.

prompts

  • when the new arrivals are shown to the place they’re staying, it’s…well, it’s going to fit them? it hasn’t been abandoned for terribly long, so the farmstead isn’t exactly decrepit, but it clearly wasn’t taken care of over this past winter. there’s also not exactly space for everyone to have their own room or anything—there’s exactly one private bedroom, and it’s likely that people are going to want to share the floorspace if they aren’t interested in stuffing themselves into the rafters of the barn, which is probably happening anyway. the fields are full of weeds and sticks and stones. how is your character settling in? are they helping clean up? are they fighting someone else for space? do they want to actually do farming?
  • the sunsprites will often leave quests for the new arrivals! these will appear randomly, and require people to interact with and assist each other. some quests your character might be on include:
    • the river is low and dry this year. one of you has been tasked with collecting and recording, in whatever way they can, sorrowful memories from as many people as possible, so that the harvest goddess can hear them and her tears can fill the river again.
    • the cold of winter is lasting longer than it ought to into the beginning of spring, with frost still clinging to the land. to nurture the flowers that wait in fear for the chance to grow, a pair of people will have to find something one of them has never done before that the other can guide them through.
    • the soil is weak, and the harvest is struggling. a character is asked to remind the soil of what its bounty means by sharing something they've made with their own two hands, freely and without anything expected in return.
    • or make up your own idea!
  • the townsfolk have a jobs board up in the main square! you can post any requests you’d like up there so that someone else might be able to help!
  • there’s a festival coming up!
    • the festival could be…
      • a celebration of the autumn harvest
      • a beach party
      • a flower festival to celebrate spring
      • a night market
    • your character could be…
      • partying, of course
      • helping with the setup and preparation
      • inviting others and trying to make the festival really happen instead of just being like four people standing around awkwardly
  • if you want an npc existing resident of any kind, please make a prompt and let me know! you could ask for…
    • someone specific:
      • the harvest goddess; ill, but eager to help as best she can. generally kept in the forests behind the farmlands, in a grove near the lake the sunsprites emerge from.
      • ethel, an elderly woman who’s known about the magic all this time and is thrilled about the new arrivals. softspoken, gentle, and blind. lives with her more outgoing wife, eudora, who hasn’t disbelieved ethel but is still stunned to see the magic and the sunsprites real and in person.
      • melanie, a researcher in her early 30s here to investigate the history of the ruins at the edge of sunbridge town. brusque, blunt, and suspicious of magic in all its forms, and so meets all the newcomers with a healthy dose of caution and suspicion—but she also has a thirst for knowledge that makes it easy to get her talking.
      • bellamy, mid 20s, local florist and dandy. seeks beauty in everything, and the beauty in sunbridge town has kept him here all this time, and despite his general nature of cheerfully flouncing about, he’s struggling with watching the town falter. tentatively hopeful that the new arrivals can help, and while the weirdness of many of their existences frightens him, he’s eager to assist if asked.
      • felix, a middleaged man who owns the local tavern/bar. gregarious and generous. a little skeptical about the new arrivals’ ability to help, but has taken this whole “magic is real” thing in surprising stride—or he’s just too focused on his business to worry too much about it.
      • rowan, early 20s, waitress at the local tavern/bar. puts on a friendly face at work for the new arrivals but has a standoffish caution around them outside of it. an artist who’s saving up money with the intention of moving to the big city where she hopes to be more successful, but struggles with her attachment to the town and how it hurts to watch it suffer and to think of leaving it.
    • a general archetype:
      • someone who is suspicious of the new arrivals—did your character take their job from the board? have they been forced into the same circumstance? is your character just trying to buy something from the store and it’s become a whole thing?
      • a small child immensely curious about the new arrivals—do you want to be interrogated?
      • someone who works with the livestock—let’s talk about animals!
      • idk choose your own adventure i don’t have a full cast yet

i. pick a fortuneteller
(i'll set up journals when i get home please bear with me)

  • lavana: cheerful, friendly, anxious, genuinely trying to help when she reads fortunes; reads with tarot cats, a rider waite smith deck

  • fù nàxià: in a permanent state of the menacing ominous feeling a :) gives you, carries a skull around, elegant, intimidating, constantly followed around by speechless spirits; reads with whatever i feel like until she gets her own deck

  • meridian: fancy faun fortuneteller; a little spacey, elegant, dumb as a box of rocks but it isn't immediately apparent. still getting a feel for her. reads with the citadel, a unique oracle deck

ii. set a scene
lavana has her own shop setup; it's a fancy, beautiful tent. she lives on a bustling port sky island that most travelers, especially adventurers, will pass through.

fù nàxià has her own shop setup; it's an indoor space full of weird trinkets like bones and shit just lying around. i assume a more modern fantasy setting for her by default, but will move her to a fantasy verse.

meridian is a wanderer from a fantasy setting, but won't be terribly startled by travel between realms, but i promise you she doesn't how know she did it.

jamjars are also fine, or just don't think about it too hard.

iii. have a question in mind
you don't need to open with it immediately, but be prepared to ask a specific question. yes-or-no questions are bad. your character can be absolute shit at this, though; mine will respond accordingly and i will assume you know what you're doing.

iv. post a toplevel
please ask for a specific fortuneteller instead of just going dealer's choice! i may change who's available if i'm finding i'm not getting to play a particular character very much though. you can start mid-scene, ready to ask a question, or play out a little introductory small talk as your character enters the shop.

Character Dynamics
here are just some specific character dynamics i think would be neat

- let su fei be your big sis!!!! i always want her to adopt people are you kidding me
- in particular gimme your child soldiers and let her adopt the everloving heck out of them ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!
- fellow adults who have been through Some Shit, commiserating over, like, Existence. All Of It. especially good if we assume a setting with a lot of teens running around. ESPECIALLY especially good if they co-parent all those teens?!?!
- su fei hates nobility as a rule. either 1) let her be a rude li'l shit to your noble or 2) force them into a get-along shirt by virtue of some shared activity or crisis
- su fei does not hate magic or mages but like. she doesn't like it. it's been used against her and her people too many times. she's a little mage racist. force her and a mage into a get along shirt? have a mage talk to her about their craft?

[Everyone has their own affairs to attend to, of course, and aligning twenty people's schedules is a challenge on the best of days. It's hard to get the family that saved Sinnoh and the rest of the world with it all together—but an anniversary is a perfect excuse.

Emmeryn hosts; she's made quite a home for herself in Floaroma, and there's space to sleep over for anyone unprepared to nyoom back from whence they came right away. It's snowing out, lightly enough not to be any more than a mild inconvenience, since it sticks enough to play in. If the Pokémon left in Emmeryn's care aren't out in her yard doing just that, they're probably inside being babied, wrapped up in blankets and the scarves Emmeryn gets every time Camilla visits.

There's food and an almost aggressive amount of hot beverages, and it's a bit crowded inside but it's cozy. It's a day worth commemorating, but mostly it's just nice to be together.

a. first meeting
[Welcome, new kids, to Estrella Academy! As part of your first few weeks of busy activity, you get paired with upperclassmen as a mentorship program, and today, you get to meet the big girl with an equally imposing gun, the former always in bright pink instead of anything even remotely resembling the academy uniform, and the latter with a cute pink ribbon tied around its massive barrel. The former grins brightly at you and waves as you come near, calling out your name.]

That's it, right? It's so busy, you know, meeting all the freshmen, but I keep track of the important things! My name's Jessica, by the way, Jessica Gin, but Jess is fine! I call this guy Beom-Gon. [She indicates the gun by hefting it up higher on her shoulder.] How's Estrella been treating you so far? Are you and your Key settling in okay?

[She's so bubbly... She's so loud.]

b. FIGHTY OPTION
[When you attend a superpowered fight school, field trips are the sorts of things that usually entail doing superpowered fights, which is why the gang has been brought outside the city to practice picking off Cast-Offs. Jess is the upperclassman chaperone for this particular outing—and good for you, because right before a very unfortunate-looking wolf-thing can pounce on you while you're turned around, there's a shout of,] Look out! [at the same time as a bang of gunfire, and then a distorted whimper as the gets launched backwards mid-lunge by the force of a bullet.

Jess maintains her position some meters back on some higher ground, with Beom-Gon's muzzle smoking from her shoulder.
]

Look alive! You might not be so lucky out in the field!

c. texting options
i. for chaotics
hey so i don't need to know the details but would you at least let me know what kind of mess it is and where it is so i know what to expect when i go in for damage control because all i've heard so far is your name and something about fire

ii. for anyone for whom this is a potential concern
hey good morning!!! check your jacket pocket there's a surprise for youuuu 💕💕

[the surprise in question is one (1) breakfast bar, individually wrapped, of the recipient's favorite flavor, because jess knows how to trick her friends into eating their breakfasts

...when and how did she do this
]

iii. for friends
hey so i've had this one uh
i can't think of the english word but it's one of those ornaments with my hanbok?
anyway i've had it for basically ever right, a solid pretty one, and you know i bust out the whole set for formal events and as it turns out the thing OPENS and you know what's inside it???
A KNIFE
JUST A REGULAR KNIFE
I'VE BEEN WEARING THIS TO SCHOOL FUNCTIONS FOR YEARS AND IT'S JUST BEEN A KNIFE THIS WHOLE TIME AAAAAA

d. this could be a jamjar option or maybe a training exercise???
[It's a long way down to, you know, wherever, from all the way up here; if you don't specify i'll do it my heckin self on a per character basis, but the point is there's no clear path down until Jess waves her hand, just so, terribly casual. Something glitters on her fingertips and wide, translucent discs shimmering soft pink appear, spaced in "MMO jump puzzle" fashion more than "proper staircase." Beom-Gon carried easily on her shoulder, Jess jumps a few feet down to the first barrier, which offers only the slightest give at her weight before bouncing back up, just enough to keep the landing soft. She jumps from that one down to the next, and the next, smooth as anything.

Grinning, she turns to her companion back at the top of the ledge and waves.
]

C'mon down! It's safe, I promise, and I'm right here!

e. idk write a different thing or give me a prompt and i'll write a different starter

PROFILE SKELETON I TOOK FROM CLAIRE
prospitian: (Default)
[personal profile] prospitian

let's talk shop! here's a big call me out post/psl plotter/informational post catch-all type thing, idc idc—leave a starter and we can just get going, or an ooc note with a general concept and either i'll write you a starter or we can go back and forth for a bit to figure out what we want to do! a comment just like "hey i want x" wherein x is one of my characters, one of yours, or just a super vague idea is also fine, and we'll just call that a placeholder for me to shout at you to plot something for real

the girls up top here are the ones i'm most hoping to play, and i'd especially love to plot some more long-term involved stuff with them! the other group at the bottom need voicetesting, and i'm mostly looking for more one-off, casual threads for now. basically anyone on my muselist is likely a viable candidate, though; just ask!

Emmeryn

Ylisse's queen and exalt—effectively she's just, like, the pope, if the pope was also your mom. A staunch pacifist, tremendously patient and kind, and really just here to love and support you. The mom friend just by sheer force of personality; she loves you so much and forgives you for your transgressions and wants you to be the best you can be!!

Honestly by and large best suited for jamjar scenarios post-ch9 (while regarding Spotpass as non-canon) so to minimize the looming responsibility kingdom politic and shit, and if that doesn't mean anything to you what it does mean is you should be okay with early game FE:A plot spoilers! I love found family stuff with her or just getting to play her loving and supporting the heck out of everyone, especially jerks who don't understand feelings. If she expresses any negative emotion in any capacity whatsoever she'll die but god am I ever here for that slowburn emotional vulnerability shit.

She's got an Azume-specific CMO here!

Clarisse

Garbage girl stink lady belongs in the toilet. Trained as an assassin from childhood, Clarisse considers herself more weapon in service to Lady Eremiya than human being with actual feelings, and fails to see the point of concern in all that. Sadistic, violent, snarky, and just plain mean, but it's in no small part a front; Lady Eremiya disposes of weak, useless things, and things like emotional vulnerability and attachments are a weakness. More than anything, Clarisse doesn't want to be disposed of, so she puts others down as a way to stay on top. Really, she longs for friendship and family, but of course she'd never admit to it.

Honestly because Clarisse sucks SO BAD she is just the WORST she's harder to plot with, Jamjar scenarios following a canonpoint after her boss chapter (and if this doesn't mean anything to you: this necessitates being okay with FE12 non-plot character-specific spoilers, where the character is a midboss on an optional route) are good at forcing her to interact with people, but no promises she'll interact with them in any way that isn't antagonistic? Other child soldiers, assassins, or people with shady ties to shady churches are good bets. Also god please give her someone who will forcibly befriend her against her will??? Also down for what-if AUs to make her a proper part of the FE12 cast.

Linde

A lovely noblewoman with a lot of energy and good cheer, friendly and generally optimistic and kind of a huge nerd about magic despite not liking crowds or attention, whose reason for living is avenging her father's death by annihilating the shit out of his murderer with her own hands. Sometimes sassy, takes no shit, is impressively good at keeping her trauma and all-consuming anger put away where no one can find it, because she knows full well that none if that is especially socially acceptable, which does not stop her.

Generally I prefer to play her at a mid-FE11 canon point so that she's still on her revenge quest! I'm actually super here for castmate stuff with Linde while everyone's on the march and doing war stuff. For cross-canon, I always want Linde to get to talk about revenge so anyone with strong feelings on that in either direction is a good bet! She's always jazzed to talk about magic, so fellow mages are a solid bet. She's more open about her past with people with similar issues, so if you wanna talk about dead parents then HEY??? I'm pretty open with Linde tbh I just miss playing her and need to get a handle on her voice again.

Verica, a fortune-teller who believes it's the responsibility of seers to use their powers to fight against fate. She used to believe fate was an immutable thing and, for that reason, would only divine when other people were going to die—until she received a vision of her younger brother's death. A nurturing, big sisterly type, with a calm and soothing presence but a fiery resolve.
Clover, resident disaster child, loud and excitable and childish and pretty stupid, but overall dangerously mercurial. Her emotional state is a monster factory creation, i.e., no middle sliders, so she's either bouncing off the walls with exuberance, dead silent with misery, or literally trying to kill someone. Basically she's a sparkly pink chihuahua of a person and also the second you become friends she will kill anyone who looks at you wrong.
Tiki, a PERFECT AND GOOD DAUGHTER, secretly over a thousand years old even though she looks and acts like a twelve year old, but she was asleep for all but twelve of those years so, like, it's less unfortunate than it could be. The last of the divine dragons, meaning she can transform into a giant fuckoff dragon at will, and she is horrifyingly powerful at that due to being literally just the daughter of god, but after a millennium of sleep filled with traumatic nightmares, she actually only cares about making friends.
Tiki, but two thousand years later; the above perfect and good daughter who is worshiped as a divine oracle. All this time of watching her mortal friends die has tempered her bubbly personality, but, despite having resigned herself to being placed on a pedestal and the way it fuels her loneliness, she longs for human company and is determined to make the most of the time she does have. Full of Divine Dragon Wisdom, ranging from wise guidance to blowing raspberries because you're taking yourself and her way too seriously.

or ask about any of the others on my muselist!

Emmeryn elects to stay in Sinnoh, finding herself a cute little cottage in Floaroma with a guest room for her friends' visits, and a big backyard she uses to babysit a decent number of her adventuring buddies' horrible monster toddlers and run a daycare for people with probably less cross-universal travel obligations. Despite the extraordinary circumstances of her arrival and the, uh, interesting menagerie of locals and visitors she has coming in and out all the time, and also the minor deities living in her house and backyard, her life here is relatively very normal, and she's tremendously happy about it.

Open Voicetest Post

Help me voicetest some ladies! Each girl has a brief description and then just a note about my preferences for scenarios with them; if you aren't up for writing a starter, please go ahead and just give me a vague idea of what you're looking for setting- and situation-wise, and I'll take care of it!

No smut, and no shipping for now while I get a handle on things, and maybe check in with me first about anything especially emotionally charged?

OCHAKO URARAKA

the rescue hero-in-training, Uravity! optimistic and energetic, a little over-the-top theatrical but always friendly and incredibly supportive. her power is making things, including herself, float by touching them with the pads of all five fingers on her hand.

my preference is for canon settings, with or without tying to the main plot. jamjars are fine too but i'd rather not au ochako into another setting! any chance for her to show off her powers would be swell, whether it's a team-up, rescue, or mentoring scenario, but day-to-day school life would also be cute!

OPHELIA

the ever-dramatic, over-the-top chosen heroine of the dusk! gives things stupid names and divines fortunes with gemstones and the stars—it's all pretty dumb and she's a huge weirdo, and she's aware of how she comes across, but life is way more fun when you see it through sparkly glasses. wants to be something and someone special, she's just taken it to...a very verbose extreme......

god please don't make me pretend to understand the plot of Fates; self-contained canon scenarios or jamjar settings, vague or otherwise, would be ideal!

CLARISSE

stupid bad garbage girl. rude murder lady. the worst. bratty teenage girl with a horrific amount of pride, admittedly not entirely unfounded; she's been groomed to be an assassin since childhood and she knows that trash gets disposed of, so she's determined to keep her spot among the best. all her haughtiness covers up an immense fear of failure. secretly longs for family; is super tsun about it.

canon does not allow a whole lot of places for other scenarios to come in with clarisse so jamjar stuff would be ideal! mostly i'm trying to get myself a sample thread and some voicetesting in before cartesio tbh so a murdergame setting might be good? we can even just snag cartesio's setting wholesale tbh idc. would prefer not to assume cr too heavily with her because of just How She Is, but we can assume some awareness or acquaintanceship with each other rather than complete strangers for sure

Random Scenario Meme Other Prompts Cartesio Setting

Info

A musebox for Courtney! Friends and strangers alike are more than welcome to tag into any of these open posts, but please no smut and nothing involving drugs or alcohol unless it's already been discussed.
